Este curso 2015-16 se ha puesto en marcha la sección bilingüe del IES Odra-Pisuerga. El grupo de 1º de ESO está recibiendo clases en inglés en dos asignaturas: Geografía e Historia y Educación Física además de en la asignatura de Inglés.
Como apoyo a este programa el centro solicitó un profesor nativo. No hemos tenido la suerte de contar con uno para todo el curso, pero a través del programa ”Teach in Spain“ hemos contado durante este primer trimestre con una persona procedente de Estados Unidos, Carolina Santelises. Gracias a ella todos los alumnos, no sólo los de la sección bilingüe, han tenido la oportunidad de interactuar y trabajar el idioma inglés de una manera más natural y real.

My experience in Spain:
By volunteering to teach English I was able to help young people improve a key skill for a better future. When I first arrived students wanted to find out about me. They wanted to know why I have chosen to come and teach in a high school in a town in Burgos. Many of the lessons gave me the opportunity to explain about where I live or my interests and hobbies at home. I helped students learn to communicate in English using real life situations that are relevant and useful to them. My intentions were to provide students with various materials to help them understand English. By improving their English it helps them to communicate for future purposes such as careers, studies or in general.
However, I felt very welcomed and involved by my host family. The family made sure I was comfortable, fed and pleased. I want to thank them for taking me into their home and caring for me like I was a part of their family. I can´t explain how much I appreciated all of you opening your arms to me. My experiences have been great I have realized my passion to teach. I hope I´ve made a difference in the school as volunteer English teacher.
